A veritable Hamburg institution, the Louis C. Jacob Hotel’s history began in 1791, when French landscape gardener Daniel Louis Jacob established the site as a wine restaurant. The hotel was fully renovated in the 1990s, without sacrificing any of its characteristic charm. It is housed in a magnificent historic mansion overlooking the Elbe. All of the 85 guestrooms have polished oak floorboards and hand-woven carpets, walk-in closets, and gorgeous marble and granite en-suite bathrooms. The hotel's Jacobs Restaurant and adjoining Lime Tree Terrace offer breathtaking views over the River Elbe, and diners will be enchanted by the sumptuous décor of the former, surrounded by carefully restored murals, stucco ceilings and heavy crystal chandeliers. Recently voted the best restaurant in Hamburg, Jacobs serves French-inspired cuisine. In the building’s ice-cellar, which dates from 1850, the hotel management has created a fabulous wine cellar.
